Here's my Story
Meet Laurie Grist
My journey as a professional rider and licensed equestrian coach has been my greatest teacher. Over three decades in the ring, I’ve not only guided countless students from uncertainty to achievement, but also developed and trained horses and ponies from green youngsters to confident partners. There’s something special about taking a raw, untrained horse and building trust step by step—teaching them to overcome fear, while keeping their safety in mind, respond with precision, and ultimately perform with confidence. That same process applies to my students, watching them discover capabilities they never knew they had. Teaching someone to trust a 1,200-pound horse, (or a bratty strong-willed pony) requires more than technical skill—it demands the ability to instill genuine confidence, to motivate through setbacks, and to help both horse and rider believe in themselves enough to reach for their dreams. Training and competing horses can be a very humble experience. That’s where I learned what real empowerment looks like, and it’s shaped everything I do today.
My background in sales and women’s leadership development has taken me to remarkable places. I was part of the team that supplied interlocking recycled rubber tiles for the temporary celebration pad at David Lam Park during the 2010 Winter Olympics in BC, Canada, and contributed sales and sponsorship to the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, USA, providing the same innovative rubber tiles and grids for the quarantine facility. Beyond the boardroom and sales floor, I’ve proven myself as a competitor in other sports—earning the title of Ontario Ladies ATV Champion and becoming the Canadian Women’s Crossbow Champion. These experiences taught me that success comes from preparation, focus, and the courage to compete at the highest level.
